What is a LifeVac Device?
LifeVac is a non-powered suction device designed for rare choking emergencies. It is only used when standard first aid—back blows and abdominal thrusts—has been attempted without success. If a child becomes unconscious, LifeVac may be used as a final step before CPR while waiting for emergency services.
The device is:
- Approved by the MHRA (UK), FDA (USA), and other international regulators
- CE marked and registered as a Class 1 medical device
- Designed as a single-use emergency tool, not a replacement for paediatric first aid training
A Personal Visit from Lewis Steeper
We were honoured to welcome Lewis Steeper to our nursery, who shared the story of his son, Oliver Steeper, who tragically passed away in 2021 following a choking incident at nursery. Lewis and his wife, Zoe, have since established The Oliver Steeper Foundation, which provides LifeVac devices to Ofsted-registered early years settings.
We are proud to support this vital initiative, helping raise awareness and improve emergency preparedness across the early years sector. To learn more or support the foundation, visit:
